There it sits on the shelf, condemning me for dragging my feet on this issue, even though I heartily encourage others to do so.

Today I read a great blog article by John Jonas, How I Do Videos for My Blog. He has taken away every excuse I had – he gives away all his “secrets” to creating a great blog video, including what he uses (a specific camera), the perfect tripod, and the free software that all work together to make his videos look and sound great.

I’ll stick to my little Flip for recording, but I’m going to put all the rest of it together, get over myself, and start taping. Hopefully his blog post will help you get started too!

The thought of creating a video for Internet distribution is pretty intimidating to me, though some people whip out the web or video cam at the drop of a hat.

I’m impressed with those who come up with brilliant ideas, like the sticky-notes video (see it below) or the social networking video by Common Craft – whose videos are all made by drawing on and moving papers around on a table. No face-time involved.

I really wish that had been my idea!

So how do you not only come up with innovative ideas, and then make your video interesting enough that people will not only sit and watch it, but buy into your product, service, or offering?

According to an article I found on the Elance Blog, Seven Sweet Steps to Producing Irresistible Video Content:

Your viral video or vblog should be like C-A-N-D-Y. Your audience may have a small tinge of guilt upon consumption, thinking they should be spending their time doing something “more productive.” If created properly, they will still gobble up your scrumpdelicious treats.

After reading the article, 7 sweet treats later you’ll be armed with a yearning for Halloween candy and a some ideas on how to create and present your video.

Although it’s everyone’s dream to have a video go viral and spread like wildfire like the ones we see all over the web, if people watch yours and like it you’ve gained ground.

I’m still trying to come up with my own brilliant idea.
