How to Make Great Videos for Your Blog
For months now I have been looking at the cute little Flip I bought specifically to do videos for this blog. There it sits on the shelf, condemning me for dragging my feet on this issue, even though I heartily encourage others to do so.
Today I read a great blog article by John Jonas, How I Do Videos for My Blog. He has taken away every excuse I had – he gives away all his “secrets” to creating a great blog video, including what he uses (a specific camera), the perfect tripod, and the free software that all work together to make his videos look and sound great.
I’ll stick to my little Flip for recording, but I’m going to put all the rest of it together, get over myself, and start taping. Hopefully his blog post will help you get started too!

Thanks for the link. It answered some questions I had about video blogs.

Video blogging is such a powerful tool to make your blogs different to others and especially useful in a saturated niche. I tried Flip awhile ago, but then came back to Jing (http://www.jingproject.com/) simply because of the ease of use. Have you tried Jing for making videos for blogging?
No I haven’t – thanks for the tip!
I think a great video is very good for getting traffic.

I’ve been on his email list for a while – he gives more useful info than most of the other lists I’m on. Well worth checking out
I’ve been impressed with him too.
Nice tips, Hope video marketing will grab more visitors to blog. Thanks.
I just link to Youtube content (call me lazy)… They have a video for everything it is just too tempting…
Mind you there is a risk, and that is the YouTube video getting deleted which does look unprofessional…
Nothing wrong with YouTube videos, but a custom video adds a lot more personality to your site/blog.
I just link to Youtube content
I think that if a blog contains videos then it’s much more interesting to read it! Such blogs help to gain customers.
That’s really good and interesting as videos are one good way to promote the blogs.
Great post and thanks for sharing the link. Videos are a great SEO tool and great videos are even better. Sometimes it’s hard to muster of the strength to make a video (for whatever reason), but the link really does not give you any excuses NOT to create one. I’ll be using those tips for my search marketing local videos I need to create. Again, great post!
Thanks Danny! My New Year’s resolution is to get a video made for this blog!

Thank you kolorowanki!
I’m a little shy when it comes to video marketing, but I might have to give that a try besides doing SEO to switch things up a bit. I just took public speaking class this past fall semester so I might be better now

Good post. One of the benefits of blogging is that you’re able to present a more personable voice to your communication with the world. There isn’t anything better than Video for doing this and you’ll really stand out and look more professional and knowledgeable than other blogs in your area.
Great post – will have to give this a try
I`ve been using animoto for a few of my clients` videos, and it`s turning out quite well. Worth the PRO subscription I`d say.
Anyone here using it? I`d definitely appreciate some tips & tricks
Appreciate these tips – I’m just going to upload some new videos on my blogs!
