Google’s New Translate Option
Have you tried Google Translate lately?
I used it recently, and it did a fantastic job of translating an email from German to English, with no odd phrases or bad grammar.
Now they are offering this option in the Search Options panel of Google search. This is a nice feature Google has just rolled out. When you click on the option, you get a clean interface with the choice of translating a block of text, finding out the meaning of a specific word, or translating an entire web page.
It’s great that this new feature seems to have been debugged and works seamlessly for its users right from the get-go, unlike new rollouts by search engines that rhyme with Ding.

We’ve see a 4%-7% increase in international traffic conversion since we’ve integrated the translate widget onto our commerce sites. While our international traffic is low, that’s still a massive relative increase.
The key is to making it easy (even automatic) for international users to be able to translate your page.
One tip though, manually translate your checkout pages and button texts in your funnel.

That’s a huge increase, Dave! Thanks for sharing this information, and for the tip on manual translation.
I can remember years ago trying to use G’s translate feature and it would always come out as total gibberish. I’m so glad that they spent a lot of time over the years improving it because it’s properly useful now.
Hey,
How did you get the “Share is Sexy” Sharing buttons. I see it in a number of site but have not been able to get the code.

It’s called Sexy Bookmarks and you can get it at http://sexybookmarks.net/.
I have worked closely with ecommerce sites that did not offer this feature. What if you only ship within the US – I wonder if you’d still see any significant jump in conversions after implementing such a feature?

John, I think this is more for people who want to translate a site, rather than a service you put on your website.
Yes, I know about the Google’s translation and it translates everything in your mail.

I use it daily and yeah actually it has improved lately now when I think about it. I haven’t tried the new future though.
I like this tool from Google but I’m still a bit sceptical about translating the whole sentences or texts. I’m a bit of professional in this sphere so only manual translation is good for me.
I wouldn’t rely on it to build a new website in another language, but it’s sure a lot better than it used to be!
I’m really glad that they improved the quality of the translations. I had mostly stopped using their translate tool about a year ago because it just wasn’t very accurate. I’ll have to try this on my site and see if it improves results.

Google does it again, great feature, thanks again
This I got to try out. I think a better way to try it is to try and translate English to Chinese and vice versa. If it’s still grammatically correct, then I’m sold with the idea.
Let us know how it works for you.
I’ve tried it and it’s great. maybe i can learn german or french by that kind of process. Google really creates the right ways.
I use it to look up words in other languages. Now we need the pronunciation!
I just heard about new feature in google translate. I have tried, and looks it works well. Nothing is perfect

I use it for comparison. German to English vv is quite good. But English to Indonesian, the result makes me laugh. Actually it is better to use it sentence by sentence. The best parts of the new google translate are that that machine lets you suggest a better (or human) translation and can spell nearly correctly esp. in Indonesia.

Hi SEO Diva, at the bottom of your post, there’s the ‘Sharing is Sexy’, what’s the plugin called?
It’s called SexyBookmarks.
what do you mean by sexybookmarks?
Google translate is really useful. I use it mainly as a dictionary.
Google’s translator is so helpful to translate any countries language.By this translator we can also earn money by translating languages in different languages.
thanks google ..
It all depends on what language you are translating to. If its Chinese then what could be two words in English is like 15 in Chinese..lol

I use Google Translate infrequently, and it does a good job for the most part. I tried translating something from Japanese the other day and it came out with half the words the wrong way round, but there was enough there for me to understand roughly what it meant =)

At least you could figure out what it meant, but some languages have to be harder than others.
Sometimes You can`t even figure what it meant.
I have a question… If you translate your site into multiple different languages does this count as duplicate content??
If not, that could be a really good way of increasing your page count nice and quick…
No, it’s not supposed to count as duplicate content.
The best parts of the new Google translate are that that machine lets you suggest a better (or human) translation and can spell nearly correctly.
I didn’t know that you could do that!
to be honest I was a little difficult to understand other languages. This means a lot to help solve my current problem. without it would be a lot of unfinished work. thanks
good information If you translate your site into multiple different languages does this count a I have tried, and looks it works well.s duplicate content??
I have been a regular user of the online translate tool of Google. google is a good organization that believes in innovation and creativeness. This is why one can expect changes in any of its applications why only the translate feature!

Ding LOL, I do use Google Translate regularly, before I used to go on translate.google.com but ever since I found out that Google toolbar also handles webpage translation, I am enjoying it even more. If the page isn’t in English language, it asks you whether you need to translate it in English or not and when you click ‘Translate’, it does it flawlessly.
There are definitely some glitches when translating from less-known languages to English but it works really well with the most known languages other than English.
I now use it to translate conversations when I’m playing Texas Hold ‘Em online!
