I was on the fence about it too as a social communication tool. Kind of funky, with the typical low-fi Google user interface. But when my boss and I used it to build a plan (ala Basecamp), I changed my opinion.

I experienced the “monster” when I was managing 15 sales agents for a Phoenix based condo sales company. Instead of using emails to stay current I set up Google Document accounts and had the agents update the spread sheets rather than send me emails. It worked out great. Nevertheless I couldn’t get other managers in the company to embrace the idea. I bet they’ll embrace Google Wave.

I activated my Google Wave account almost two weeks ago. Although I like the concept a lot the trouble I am having is getting friends to use it with me. Obviously I would expect this problem to wane once Wave comes out of beta and goes public.

Thanks for giving away the invitations but I just received the invitation few hours ago from my friend. Until that time I heard alot about Google Wave but never saw how it works, it definitely is going to be the future and I see it as a great tool for office workers as they can communicate very easily.
