Keyword Index Tool

I feel like I’ve become Sears, and September is tools month! But I’ve sure come across some handy ones, lately.

Here is one I think you’ll like – simple to use, great information. If the info was downloadable I’d be extra happy. According to the Alexa site, they claim to get the search date through several ISPs, retrieving millions of searches on several search engines. (They would have to kill you if they told you any more than that).

It’s called KeywordIndex. They keywords are straightforward – no synonyms. Below is a search for SEO, and I find this type of search helpful when I’m trying to determine all the ways one word is used.

A click on Google Trends gets you this page (SEO is nicely trending upwards:

And Google Insights for Search, in which SEO has a nice rise up the graph:

And last but not least, BING goes the Internet! I’m no sure of the purpose of this page other than to show up–to-date references to SEO.

Hmmm how accurate do you think they are? Shows a big difference in a keyword I have searched in Google’s keyword tool.

I don’t know how accurate any of them are…I take it all with a grain of salt. By viewing the numbers as relative to one another, it tells me which ones are most important. One thing I like is that it’s a simpler tool to use, so if I want to take a quick look at a single word and the searches around it I can do so without wading through all the additional words in the Google KW tool. If I’m doing extensive kw research I use Google.

  2. You’re right, this tool would be must better if you could download the information. I’ve been meaning to do a little more research into all the Google tools. Thanks for the write up.

  3. Nice site, thanks for sharing. I’m also a little surprised at how different the search numbers are vs. the Google Adwords tool. I wonder where the site gets that information.

I find this tool really useful. I’ll give it a try and if there will appear some problems I’ll share them with you. Thanks!

  6. This tool looks like it could be fairly helpful, but I wouldn’t go through any of the additional data until I cull down my list to what I would consider “semi-finalists.” Furthmore, you are right on the money about downloadable data. Who knows, maybe that is what will be offered as a “premium” feature?

I find the more keyword tools you use can only help you. After all we are all trying to find the little nuggets of gold out there. Whether or not they are accurate, really makes no difference, I use them as a brainstorming tool mainly.

Hi Diva, good tools, but they are not accurate enough, I had a contract with Google in the past, I know. Do it the simple way is my recommendation, put up a Google Adwords Account on the terms you want, broad match only and exact match, then run it in the geo that you need and 7 days later you can run reports on search queries and get the real data of exact volumes in your market and the impression share you had. Couple of bucks, and no guess work.
