Responding to Blog Comments

overwhelmed Getting a lot of comments on a blog post is totally rewarding – it makes me feel like people are not only reading my posts but find them interesting/inspiring/irritating…but not ignored.

The last few posts I’ve written have gotten a lot of comments – and once again, I’ve fallen behind responding to them and have become overwhelmed with the task.

So, I’ve decided to respond to them as a group and include some updates on previous blog posts too. I sincerely hope you aren’t offended or have hurt feelings if I don’t mention your name specifically.

Ad Exchange Update

Regarding my post on the 125 Ad Exchange – A lot of commenters asked me to let them know how it worked out. The answer is, I never did figure out just how it was going to help me, and I haven’t seen any benefits. My button ad has received very few clicks and I haven’t noticed any upsurge in traffic. So I’m scratching that from my blog.

ContestLuv

The CommentLuv contest is over – I regret no one who commented on this blog won. Nothing personal witchypoo – but one person winning 6 out of 13 contest prizes? I think Andy needs to reformat how his contests work.

It did interest me in holding my own contest…if anyone wants to contribute a prize, let me know – I’ll make sure you get lots of links. I promise no one will win more than one prize lol! I have to give some thought as to just how I will put it together, but it will be fun.

Baby Boomers

My articles on Baby Boomers sure get the response! I want to respond to some specific questions and comments from the most recent one.

First of all, I am a baby boomer, so I speak from first-hand experience. Hmmm, maybe you didn’t know I don’t have a “newer mind” Jamie, but your comment had me laughing! I guess I should not be spending my freshly earned “old money” online since I don’t know “where or what to buy” but I can tell you that even so, I’ve managed somehow to buy (online) the “newest trend” in designer purses, a trip to Hawaii, all my Christmas gifts for 3 years in a row, jewelry, clothing, music, books, dvds, a car, computers, makeup, furniture, and the list goes on.

Wordsmith, you’re right, baby boomers are not saving for retirement the way the should be. They’re still spending money. Maybe not as much as before, as Lisa says, but many are still buying, especially for the holidays.

Paul, I really don’t know about worldwide metrics. I think the baby boomer phenomenon is specific to the U.S., but it makes sense to me that the “older folks” would be the demographic that has more spending money in many countries. Chicago Hospitals, you are right on.

Thank you Dennis, for explaining “call to action” to witchy. Busbyseotest, never stop building backlinks! Kathy, thanks for your comment – web developers need to learn where the bucks actually are. Marketing Ideas – good point.

Everyone else who commented, thank you for taking the time to do so. I appreciate everyone who did, and my New Year’s Resolutions will include responding to blog comments in a timely manner!
