You are missing out on a huge SEO opportunity if you’re not optimizing your blog posts with a separate title and META description. It’s easy and doesn’t take long if you use the right plugin.
When you write your post, you really have two title opportunities. One is the title of the blog post; the second is the title that goes in the header portion - this is what the spiders use to index your post. You want take advantage of both.
You also have the option to create a description for the search results that will encourage visitors your site. If you haven’t written your own description, it will be pulled from the article itself, and it may may not be the best part of the article.
Big search engines like Google and Yahoo no longer pay attention to the keyword META tag, but the smaller search engines do, so it’s beneficial to add a few keywords to each post, too.
I’ve used All-In-One-SEO with great success, but the developer no longer supports it. I recently discovered Platinum SEO, which does everything I want and has added features that make it preferable.
Features of Platinum SEO:
- Optimizes post and page titles
- Generates META tags automatically
- Helps you avoid duplicate content
- Set any META description and META keywords, for any post or page
- Compatible with most other plugins
- Change permalinks - issues a 301 redirect to the new location
- Add index, noindex, follow or nofollow, noarchive, nosnippet, noodp, noydir meta tags to any post/page
If you are already using the All In One SEO plugin, you should disable it before you active Platinum SEO. The plugin will automatically import all the settings that you have defined using All-In-One-SEO.
With each blog post or page, take the time to write a unique title and description using one or two keywords relevant to the post. It only takes another couple of minutes, with great long-term benefits to your blog.

I am already using All In One SEO plugin and it is must have plugin for your tweaking your entries. I will try Platinum SEO if it is as easy to use as All In One SEO plugin.
Thanks for sharing.
@Nike Dunks - Platinum SEO is just as easy to use, and it has added features - I think you’ll like it!
There same here, using All in One SEO. It’s bit tedious to fill in keywords every time, I wish it would just grab them from the tags or categories.
I’ll try this one though! Thanks!

The pic is a nice touch…made me grin
Interesting plugin - like some of the others above I’ve also been using the All In One SEO plugin but will definitely take a proper look at Platinum SEO.
Alright Kay, this one is really important. I am installing this on my blogs today. Thank you!

Sounds like a very good plugin, especially the fact that it imports all the settings from All-in-one SEO. I’l try it tomorrow!

Will check it out soon enough. If it’s as good as you said, I might stick to it. Thanks for sharing!
I am already using all-in-one. Recently i have come to thinking that this plugin is not supported very well. in fact, after the developer changed few months ago this new guys doesnt reply to posts and email plus, after each update he does say what changes he made to the plugin. Apart from all this it is really difficult to say which one is better. there are so many of them! the good news here is that all of the other seo plugins give you the change to important keywords and settings from all-in-one. that’s good if somebody want to switch!

Great post. I really love both the comments and the blog itself.
Excellent information. I had no idea that all in one SEO is no longer supported. That sucks. But I will check out Platinum SEO.

Great stuff SEO Diva!! Love the blog I just found
Would like to install this one but i’m having a problem with this plugin:
In the control panel (/wp-admin/plugins.php) the title is black (where any other plugins have a blue title). And it does not show up in ’settings’ when I activate it.
I’m using PHP Version 5 (though I have also tried the v.4 version).

I’m still using AIO SEO pack right now, but thanks for informing that there is a similar plugin like AIO. I’ll try it in my blog.

I’ve been using the Platinum SEO plugin for some time. In all honesty, although it has extra features over and above the “All in One” plugin, they’re not ones that I really use or that will make a big deal SEO wise.
For me the big difference though is the fact that it’s being fully supported and developed in line with new Wordpress releases. I have 5 blogs on the go, and jus don’t have the time to worry about bugs & incompatibilities in unsupported plugins.
