Best of the Web is one of my favorite directories to submit my sites as well as client sites to. It’s a well respected directory that has been around since 1996, has a Page Rank 6, and gets over 433,000 unique visitors a month.
They offer 2 prices:
- $99.95 annually recurring review fee
- $249.95 one-time review fee
For the month of October 2008 BOTW is offering a special 20% discount. If you were thinking about the one time fee now’s the time to go for it!
From now until October 31st, you can SAVE 20% on All NEW Submissions and Sponsorship Advertising in the original Best of the Web Directory, the BOTW Blog Directory, and Best of the Web’s newest offering the BOTW Local Directory.
You’re allowed to use the promo code throughout the month of October multiple times, and for multiple services and products. The offer ends on October 31st, 2008 so be sure to take advantage it before then.

Dang I wish I could afford that right now. How often do they offer discounts? or is this a rarity…

Want to get it right now. Thanks
Pretty pricey but I’m sure the overall results are good. The company I work for has gotten some decent results from paying to be listed in the Yahoo directory, however it’s quite a lot more then Best of the Web.

@Dennis - every few months they send out discount codes to members.
@Johnnie - I hope it works well for you!
@Mike - Yahoo is too expensive for me to use personally, although it’s worth it if you can afford it. BOTW is more in my price range, especially with the discount.
well i think its really good for everyone but this point i am having hard time with money……. so i will try out to manage it later on when i will be having some good cash in my pocket….
A pretty hefty price to pay. Its worth it if the internal pages have some strength to them. Not just the index page.

Being posted in botw will help our site to gain some traffic, but i don’t think that the price is fair enough.. I would like to avail but its too expensive for my pocket….
.
@zncustombuilding - it’s hard to budget the money for directories, but they do help.
@JustinG - agreed!
@Kent - I’ve seen traffic from BOTW, but mostly it’s the good backlink.
This isn’t just to be a fly in he ointment, I swear
But, now that folks are finally catching on to the fact that it’s “all about the links” and so many methods flying around…..is it really necessary to “pay” for them anymore?
Especially what can be considered a lot of money…

@Dennis - it’s okay, you can be the fly
The thing about directory links is that they are usually old, high PR sites with lots of Google love behind them. That’s why they’re so helpful.
Lots of things on the Internet are free, but money still makes it all easier.

I think i’m going to have a crack at this now, its expensive but having checked again so many BIG comps are in it it must give you an advantage!
