If you’re confused about directory submissions - which directories to use, how to go about it, where you money is best spent - you may want to read How to Get the Most From Web Directories at Site-Reference. This is a series that will guide you in the directory submission process in a way that will help you get the best results for your efforts.
You’ll also find listings of the best directories. My list would be a little different in order of “top tier” etc. but that’s personal preference. One of my favorite directories is Best of the Web. In fact, you can get a special BOTW 20% discount promo code for the month of October.
There are free, vertical, and blog directories listed as well as the standard paid directories. In addition, there are a couple of good niche directory lists included that I was unaware of. These are well worth spending some time finding directories relevant your business niche.
All in all, this is a great resource for building back links with directories!

Hi there…. yea, guess I could have left all the directories un-judged, they are personal preferences.
Thanks for the luv… always appreciated and a great way to meet new peeps. i really like how your blog is dressed up ;0)
One of the things that makes the biggest difference is the strategy. Simply whakin them out there simply is a poor use of the potential. Quality always trumps quantity
..hope to C U around.
Hey thanks for the coupon code and the link. Very useful resource. Directories are very tricky these days, I blew up a lot of money with directories, at the wrong places only to fnd that they do no good. I have to agree that only a few are real good.

Sometimes you don’t even have to pay to submit your domain to these directories. There a lot of directory services who provide their services for free.
I have to admit your post on this is truly remarkable.
@Mike - glad you like it! The right directory submissions can be a big help.
@Mani - you’re welcome. You sure don’t want to waste any money!
@Dave - no, I’m glad you did judge them. It made me take a closer look at some I had ignored before. I like seeing other people’s opinions. You are right - you just can’t throw a bunch stuff against the wall and hope it sticks.

I completely agree with this post. You do get a lot of benefit if you get a link back from a directory related with your theme.
But,the problem is most of the niche are paid or reciprocal. If you want ta back link you do need to spend some money or go for reciprocal linking.
