It’s so easy to write your posts, use the plugin All-in-One-SEO to optimize the title and tags, and think you’re done. But what about advertising your blog and getting traffic? How do you do that? Word of mouth generally won’t do the trick.
I’m as guilty as everyone else about letting my poor blogs languish. But if I’m going to take the time to write blog posts, then it only makes sense to get some more traffic so people are actually reading it!
A great way to build traffic, popularity and rankings for your blog is submitting it to blog directories. I found this huge list of them, complete with Page Rank and Alex ranking at the Sponsored Reviews blog, written by Daniel Scocco.
I really appreciate the work he put into making this list available, and have reprinted it below for my readers and subscribers.

WOW! This might be a great start for those who just about to involve in SEOing.
BTW, I heard Google will penalize those websites with high PR for having this no-PR-sites linked from their sites for this purpose. Is that true?

But is DMOZ still around?
It looks like they have stopped accepting all new entries.
I have tried getting 10 of my sites into dmoz, but none of them got accepted.
So do these directories have do-follow turned on? Or are they JUST for advertising?
My sense that directories are not very good for the latter.

Web Hosting Review - The purpose of link directories is to give links to subscribers. Sometimes they help with traffic, but they work best as a backlink.
Great list of blog directories! I have 3 new blogs I recently launched that I need to get some links for.
Thank you for the list. This information is what I look for. Can you explain why you say it seems almost impossible listed in DMOZ?
Oka - DMOZ gets a huge number of submissions, and their editors are volunteers. I think that’s part of the problem. Also, there are some politics involved, and a little graff according to some reports a few months ago. I’ve pretty much given up on that directory after numerous submissions with no response. I still encourage you to give it a try, though.

Skip - Any site will have links from sites with PR ranging from 0 on up. It’s expected and natural. The thing is, you don’t want a bunch of those free directories with no PR and no value. I don’t think you’re penalized; they just don’t count any more.
vtu belgaum - Google does not penalize you for directories…they are not considered paid links and they are not against the rules (so far anyway). Think of the Yahoo directory, or Business.com.
Background checks - Go for it! You’ll have a busy time with this list.
