Some of you may remember the hullabaloo on Active Rain about my Dirty Sexy SEO post title.
Here’s a tool that will soothe all those ruffled feathers. Dan Zarrella’s LAF Title Check will break down the words in your title and display the link effect using popular Digg stories. You can also check a specific keyword’s effect on your title. It’s a pretty nifty tool, and it also comes as a WordPress plugin, so you can check your blog titles within the WP dashboard. I used it for the title on this blog - it took 7 tries before I chose the one you see here.
No, my infamous title did not rate well with the tool, but I’m pretty sure I got more comments on that post than any other I wrote on Active Rain.
LAF stands for Link Attraction Factor. Thank you, Dan for telling us - it would have driven me crazy trying to figure out the acronym.

Ryan, wow, that’s really good!
hey kay…i wandered over here….nothing interesting going on ins AR SEO since you left…
:) ..I’m going to check out this here tool…just like most of the seo stuff you talk about, I have no idea what it is…is just get it, sign up for it…whatever, and figure it out……thanks
:) (ps…my little website went from a 1/10 in google to 2/10 not sure what that means but I think you had something to do with that… too )
Ok, so let me get this straight. The http://danzarrella.com/laf-title-check link attraction factor tool is designed at telling us what the likely hood is that people will Digg our web sites based on the title of that article? Is there a default list of some sort that possibly just gives a list of words ranked the highest so we can try and stuff our titles with those?
Hi Konnie - glad you stopped in! It’s an easy tool to figure out, and fun to use.
Congrats on your PR increase! It means you’re doing things right!
Denver - my take on it is that Digg was used as the source, but that using it will improve the “pull” of our titles across the board. Why would you want to stuff your title? If your title is not attractive, people won’t want to read your post.
Thanks for the link. I will give this tool a try.
