Hi Kay,
I see you took this post down over at AR and I did not see how you responded to my question. You mention that Google likes the site - How so? How is this directory of any value to a Realtor when the page you are put on will have no page rank? I just checked the site and verified this?
I know a directory is not going to bring you customer traffic so how does a site that does not pass any page rank help you?
Hi Bill,
Sorry, I accidentally deleted the post after I responded to you!
During the Google directory smackdown BOTW survived unscathed, with no penalties like lowering its PR. It’s considered one of the best directories to submit to. Directories work something like blogs, where there is PR on the home page, but not on the thousands of “child” pages. However, there is link juice passed on. BOTW has 163,000 visitors a month, so there is also the possibility of some traffic - I’ve had clients get traffic from it.
The article I referenced in this blog post, from SEOmoz, explains directories and how they work better than I ever could. I think you’d get a lot out of it.
I hope you’ve subscribed to the Diva! ~ Kay
I am new to SEO is it true that Directory SUbmission is goof for search engine position….let me know….
Kay I would be interested to know how you know there is link juice passed on? I know you will gain a backlink but will an assocation with BOTW improve your websites position in the serps?
SEO is a fascinating subject to me and one that you always hear different things from different people. I know i could go to another SEO site and find examples of other experts saying it is a waste of time to be on a page that does not have PR.
Kay, I saw your post yesterday on AR and will continue to follow your articles as I have gained so much info from your posts. Thanks for sharing!
I found you on Active Rain and followed you here. Thanks for the terrific information and tips.
This is a sweet deal! I have a couple of sites I have been wanting to get on BOTW and it looks like the time is now.
Bob - sorry I’m so late with this reply! Yes, directory submissions are helpful.
