Sphinn Sphamm

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

A lot of Sphinn sphamm is showing up in my Google reader today. They must be deleting it almost as soon as it hits, but there’s plenty of it coming up in my Sphinn RSS feed.

I hope the spammers quickly figure out it doesn’t do them any good. Although maybe disruption is the goal. At any rate, it sure is irritating.

Spam is just one of those things that will be around as long as the internet is social - it’s kind of like virus’ in the biological world. Everyone hates them but there isn’t much we can do…Spam stinks!

Unfortunately, I don’t think the spammers will ever learn. If they just took their energies and focus them in a positive direction they might actually accomplish something.

hmm. Something could be done, but the owners/editors of that sphinn site don’t want to do it, it seems. Using a nofollow tag for ALL submitted stuff would be a good start.

You state it is not doing the spammers any good. That’s wrong. If you look at the indexed pages in google for that site, you can clearly see ALL the spam in there…. whether or not the spam is deleted on the sphinn site. So yes, the spam is certainly doing the spammers some good.

@Doug - I didn’t think about that…I’m sure Sphinn gets indexed constantly. Good point!
