The Rules: Blog Comments for Linkbuilding

Leaving comments on blogs can be a valuable part of your linkbuilding campaign.

It does not mean leaving “Great post!” comments on every blog you find. Most bloggers will delete those ASAP, as they should.

Leaving proper blog comments takes time and effort. The rules are simple enough:

  1. Find relevant blogs
  2. Read the blog posting
  3. Leave a comment that adds value to the discussion
  4. Keep your comment in line with the blog’s comment policy
  5. Make sure the web site you’re linking to (yours) is worthwhile

Follow these guidelines, and you’ll develop a nice portfolio of blog comment backlinks, and perhaps make a name for yourself, as well.

Great post! j/k. I read your blog all the time, but have never commented. I really enjoy the stuff you post about, it has helped me out on an ‘outside of work’ level. BUT working with you has me wanting to spend a lot of time picking your brain. Nice work btw, I enjoy the tidbits you throw out.

Eric, this gives your blog a link. Your New Orleans blog looks good. Have you joined Active Rain? If not, I’ll send you an invite.

I joined in the beginning and that is what lead me to mine own blog. I have my style but I have plenty of ideas from my condo site http://www.neworleanscondos.net . It is more static but has plenty of pages of info that lends the ideas to blogs. Just need to get it to page one before long. Thanks Eric

I joined Active Rain many moons ago. That is what made me get a blog after commenting and being a moderator for at least a year. I still visit but do not post as often since my site and blog keep me busy. The point concept was a great idea. Many of the members have left and ventured into other formats and see tham as I scroll thru sites for ideas. That is how I found you.

My goal was one per day the first month and now one every other day and then a condo review as I have time. I am working on getting a few new subscriptions per day as that is the long term value of a blog. I also try to get some external links per week, almost forgot what I did to get my site ranked as its been a couple of years. http://www.neworleanscondos.net
