SEO Dinosaurs
StreetLessons.com has an article on 3 SEO Techniques for SEO Dinosaurs on link building techniques that are no good in 2008.
The author makes good points; however, I think these link techniques are still valuable if used properly. Let’s take a look:
Reciprocal Links
Link farms have been a bad idea for a long time, but a few relevant reciprocal links are still a good thing. The key is to not have too many, and make sure they are relevant to your topic or business.
Buying Text Link Ads
Text link ads purchased strictly for page rank got slapped down, but I have clients who do well with them. Besides being carefully chosen, the sites must have
- complete relevancy
- high traffic
- few other paid links
Directory Links
Lower quality directory links lost all value. There are still some great directories that have PR and I believe they are viable link options. Whatever you think of Page Rank, it still is an indication of Google’s regard for the site, or they wouldn’t have punished some sites by lowering them. I use directories that currently show a PR3 or above.

In Russia Baying Text link is not a SEO dinosaur
it’s most affective and popular way of SEO promotion. And also it’s a mast popular way to get some extra cash for webmasters.
@Chayka - it used to be that way here, but Google won’t allow it now.
In which way Google can recognize is this text link only for seo or it is your suggestion to attend a site? He have special online service that place in auto mode 5-6 text links to promoted site on each page of webmasters site, and actually its work for Google too…
Google Pagerank slap is a serious issue that we can’t ignore in SEO. But still, people will continue to buy and sell links.
I find it quite interesting that google has changed its algorithm on directory links. We all knew paid links, link building too fast etc would get you in trouble and quick. But directories? Come ON!
Text links are the key point in SEO of any website. In this article, i have come through to link strategies which i am using. Get reciprocal links but few and related will boost ranking. I have few sites on them i used to sale links for text links ads and they put only related links. Good view on directory and i will get them soon.
