I’ve listed important areas to concentrate on in 2008, according to Google guru Matt Cutts. Nothing earth-shattering, but a good heads-up.
- High Quality Content: This, of course, hasn’t changed, nor will it ever. Refine your content, add more content, and make sure your content is targeted to the main keywords for each page of your web site.
- Personalization: Be ultra specific in your niche - whether it is location, product, or topic. Covering a broad area is not going to bring your site to the top of the SERPs.
- Localization: Make sure your business/branch address is on your home page. Whatever you do don’t forget to add your site to Google local search results.
- Build Sites for Mobile: More people than ever are using their cell phones to surf the Internet, especially with the arrival of the iPhone. This site has tons of tips on how to make your web site ready for mobile.
My SEO resolution for 2008 is to learn how to build and optimize sites for .mobi.
