Are you confused about paid links? Are you afraid of them because of Google’s recent temper tantrum? Do you wonder how you’ll get incoming links to your new site without paid links?
The situation is not as dire or scary as it may seem. Google is trying to create fear and instead is garnering loathing over the whole paid links debacle. The reason they’re creating this uproar, plain and simple, is because they’re having a hard time identifying paid links. Never mind they created this monster in the first place. Like a 2 year old that wants have his cake and eat it too, Google has created a ruckus in the Internet community by stomping a giant foot because web denizens are no longer catering to the search engine’s increasingly selfish demands.
What’s a web site owner to do? Get as many quality directory links as possible, both free and fee based – they don’t count as paid links even when they do cost money, because you’re paying for a human review of your site. Start an offsite blog and keep the entries fresh, linking to your site with relevant keywords. Comment on other blogs, with a link to your site. Exchange a few links with related sites. Buy paid links as you see fit. If that makes you nervous, approach relevant sites directly with an offer to buy advertising – perhaps a small banner or button ad with a link to your site.
Be persistent, add your links over time, and you’ll be rewarded with increased traffic, a growing inventory of quality back links and progressively better web rankings.
