Naming Images

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Your images can help your SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages*) if you name them correctly. By using a descriptive name you give the spiders another keyword to latch onto. In addition, your images are more likely to show up in an images search. Since image searches are currently reported to be 20% of the total, this is a distinct advantage.

Be sure to name them properly, and don’t spam. Don’t name your spacer gifs. For best results use hyphens between words. For example, yellow-polkadot-bikini.jpg. If you have several on one page, to avoid spamming, interchange the keywords, i.e. bikini, bathing suit, swimsuit, etc.
