Site Navigation

A technically sound site must be your first goal in search engine optimization. The navigation on your site has to be properly set up if you want search engine spiders to be able to find and travel to all the pages of your site.

If your home page doesn’t have visible (text) links to leading the search engines to your interior pages, those pages quite possibly won’t be indexed.

Solutions:

  • Upload a .xml site map for the search engines.
  • Make sure you have text links that the spiders can read - flash is invisible to search engines.
  • Footer text links are always a good idea - they can be in a small font and unobtrusive.
  • Add a site map web page with links to every page on your site.

These suggestions are easy to implement and are basic to making your site friendly to the search engines.
